Huayuan adds 5 provincial intangible cultural heritage projects

Recently, the list of the sixth batch of representative projects of Hunan provincial intangible cultural heritage was announced, and the Miao monkey drum and wax dyeing technique in Huayuan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture were included in the list. Besides, the Miao dragon dance, Miao martial arts, and silver forging technique were selected among extension projects of the provincial intangible cultural heritage representative project list. In recent years, Huayuan County has continued efforts to improve the effective protection mechanism for intangible cultural heritage, and create new formats such as “intangible cultural heritage plus culture and creation”, “intangible cultural heritage plus homestay inns”, and “intangible cultural heritage plus festivals”, in a bid to promote the upgrading of the cultural tourism industry and the high-quality economic development in the county. As a “Hometown of Folk Culture and Arts in China” and a “Research Base of Chiyou Culture in China”, Huayuan County has the world intangible cultural heritage Miao Ganqiu Festival, 6 national intangible cultural heritage items, including ancient songs, Miao medicinal herbs, Miao drum dance, Miao embroidery and Miao clothing, 13 provincial-level and 180 prefecture-level intangible cultural heritage protection projects, as well as 158 training institutions, workshops, demonstration bases, enterprises, and exhibition venues for intangible cultural heritage protection and utilization.
